Cambridge requires face coverings in all public places
The City of Cambridge has issued a temporary Emergency Order requiring that face coverings be worn in all public places, businesses, and common areas of residential buildings within the city. Areas encompassed by this order include lobbies, hallways, elevators, and stairwells, and any indoor or outdoor common areas such as sidewalks, streets, bus stops, parking lots, and garages.
The Emergency Order takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, and applies to everyone over the age of five years old (with exceptions in alignment with state and federal guidelines).
Members of the MIT community who do not have a face covering may obtain one in Lobby 7 at 77 Massachusetts Avenue upon presentation of an MIT ID beginning on Wednesday, April 29.
Violations of the city’s emergency order are subject to a $300 fine.
