The Town Hall video will be available here shortly after the event.
We also want to let you know about subsequent residential life-focused “mini” town halls for undergraduates and graduate students that student leaders and heads of house are hosting. These meetings are intended to allow for a deeper dive into the problems, questions, constraints, and opportunities related to opening, and we hope you will take part:
- Undergraduate students “mini” town hall: Wednesday, May 13, 2020, 5-6:00 p.m. (additional details will be sent early next week)
- Graduate students “mini” town hall: Wednesday, May 13, 2020, 7-8:00 p.m. (additional details will be sent early next week)
We need to ensure that whatever approach we take for the fall, we prioritize and protect community health and capitalize on MIT’s greatest strengths and traditions by creating student learning and research experiences that are intellectually engaging and personally meaningful. We also need to ensure that students are involved in identifying and implementing the solutions to this complex community problem.
We encourage you to take a look at some of the questions that MIT is thinking about in our “We Solve for Fall 2020” form before these town halls. Please share your reactions to our residential life “problem statement”, submit ideas for senior leaders to consider, and suggest topics you would like addressed at the “mini” town halls. The form also includes relevant resources and research efforts that are underway from inside and outside MIT.
The town halls, problem statement and form, and current and future student surveys are some of the ways you can provide input into how to safely reopen this fall. We hope you will join us, and we look forward to hearing from you at tomorrow’s community-wide town hall as well as the ones we are planning for you on May 13.
